“The Renewal Trust has provided us with loads of support, they are always there if we need something. Our group wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the help we’ve had.”
Pete Wright, Vice-Chair, Sneinton Tenants Outreach Programme
We are here to help local people and communities in all kinds of ways, whether you want to plan a one-off event or ongoing activities, or set up your own project or service, to help the community where you live.
There’s a wealth of talent and ideas in the area, but it can be hard for people to know where to start, if they’ve never done anything like it before. We’re here to make it happen and turn your ideas into a reality. From giving you all the tools, resources and support you need to develop your project, to simply pointing you in the right direction if you’re looking for help, it’s entirely up to you.
What we do
Bring neighbourhoods together
We support people to run a range of community-based projects and activities, to encourage and develop a sense of community, whilst making it easier for local people to get involved where they live.
By bringing communities and relevant people and organisations together, we help to sort out local issues, whilst making sure everyone in the community has a voice.
As the ‘link’ between a whole range of community projects, we help groups and local people work together, so they can share skills and resources and learn from one another.
Make sure the community has a voice
We work with statutory services like Nottingham City Council and the Police to make sure local people have a say in local services and the decisions that affect their lives. We also help statutory services to understand the community’s needs, by sharing our knowledge and experience.
Support community groups
We support voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups, including tenants and residents associations, in St Ann’s, Sneinton and Mapperley (Nottingham City). We can give you help, advice and support with a whole range of things including:
- Setting up your group
- Writing your constitution
- Recruiting trustees and setting up a board
- Developing your policies and ways of working
- Running meetings and planning your AGM
- Establishing roles and responsibilities
- Finding and applying for funding
- Planning and running events
- Recruiting and training volunteers
- Promoting what you do
- Risk assessments
- Employing staff and managing your accounts
- Training and personal development

Volunteer Achievement Awards
There are lots of unsung heroes in the area, going above and beyond to improve the community and the lives of others. To make sure the passion and hard work of volunteers in the area is recognised and celebrated, we hold our ‘Volunteer Achievement Awards’ every year. The event is supported by local councillors.
