“If the Renewal Trust is championing something, there seems to be a level of excitement that it’s going to be good…that what they deliver is of high quality.”
We’re a nationally recognised community regeneration charity working with local communities in St Ann’s, Sneinton and Mapperley. We work with local people and organisations to improve lives and neighbourhoods for the better. We working hard to make sure local people are at the heart of everything we do. The ‘go to’ organisation for bringing people together and making things happen.
We provide services to support communities. Sometimes this simply means connecting like-minded groups and individuals to create and deliver exciting projects for the community. At other times it means collaborating with national or international organisations to give local people truly amazing opportunities. We also provide direct support to local people through our employment outreach and sports programmes.
Here are just some of the things we do:
Community connections – We guide, signpost and connect people and groups with opportunities and services. We want to help you make a difference! We also provide community grants of up to £500 for local groups and organisations. Find out more about Community Grants.
Employment outreach – We provide one to one help and support if you are looking for work or training.
Sports development – We provide a comprehensive sports and fitness programme. At the Brendon Lawrence Sport Centre you can access a range of sports and fitness classes.
Creative Programme – We give people the chance to work with some of the UK’s best known artists and organisations. This has included organisations like Birmingham Royal Ballet, Dance4, City Arts, New Perspectives, Nottingham Playhouse, Lakeside as well as the world famous photographer Rankin.
St Ann’s Allotments – The oldest and largest Victorian detached gardens in the UK, they cover 72 acres and sit on the border of St Ann’s and Mapperley. They are a Grade 2* English Heritage listed site and a jewel in the crown of the local area.
Spaces – To help raise funding to support our projects we offer a range of affordable office space and meeting rooms. We also have a sports hall and dance studio available to hire.
DBS checks – We are a registered umbrella body for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and can provide DBS checks for individuals and community groups for employment and volunteering.
Volunteering – If you have some free time or would like to get back into work we can help you access local volunteering opportunities.
We’re also a member of The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) – the largest umbrella body for the voluntary and community sector in England.
